winery review

Denbies English Vineyard is situated in Dorking,Surrey. MiXed ReVieWs-

England's Largest Vineyard

Pulling up to winery was a great feeling, beautiful vineyard and beautiful views, reminds us of our wedding and honeymoon, perfect for our 1 year wedding anniversary...

The reception room was lovely, we decided to go for the Sparkling Wine Tasting Experience (12.50 GBP OVERPRICED), we then were guided to a room with 360 degree screens and a 10 min movie of the winery really cool and pretty with lots of info and beautiful shots and that is really where the winery experience went down hill...
after the film we got on a mr. toads wild ride seat w a speaker of a guy saying winery facts and went on a cheesy ride around the fake wine making room. got out and went to the cellear and tasted three very very small tasting, we liked the first-Whitedowns cuvée NV- sweet and lovley to drink (we ended up buying two bottles!!) 2nd was the Sparkling rosé cuvée 2006 yucca and a bit heart burnie 3rd was the Greenfields cuvée 2004 it was so gross, left a film in out mouths:( oh and i might also mention that our tour guide hated me and gave me the smallest tasting out of any other tasters including my man, she never liked us from the start:) then we were given the boot to the gift shop...(beautiful, expensive crap, bought a 2010 diary and wine stopper)...

overall, we left with a bad taste in our mouths not just from the "champagne",
The place was a Disneyland winery with little focus on the wine and a huge tool to get its visitors to spend as much as possible...we may go back to buy the Whitedowns as its cheaper than getting it at the local waitrose and to have a look around but we will not be "tasting" again!

p.s. (we did get to keep the glasses but they are as thin as paper and the size of a childs champage glass:)

Overall we had a fun day out but with much dissapointment give it a poor review!
